Marigold the Giant Caterpillar Puppet Creature:
This
is the biggest puppet creature I have ever made, this caterpillar is 6.5 feet long!
My friends keep joking that my creatures are getting bigger and bigger!
I was inspired to create this
puppet because I had a bunch of left over rubber covered steel wire rings from stilt building and I wanted to use them for something, and out came the idea of a caterpillar!
This caterpillar is human-powered (I crawl on my hands and knees), it is also black light reactive, and it is built almost entirely from reclaimed materials.
This caterpillar puppet creature is built out of foam and steel wire rings from the mountain bike tires I cut up for tread on my Peg Stilts for Kids and Adults. The entire caterpillar is held together with zip ties and hot glue! Then it was spray painted, and hand painted adding glow-in-the-dark paint and UV reactive paints as accents.
After it's first test run I decided to rebuild the front legs and change the foam that makes the ribbing on the body.
